Our painting is based on the 1735 tapestry cardboard of one of the compositions that make up the suite Les Chasses royales de Louis XV by Jean-Baptiste Oudry (Musée national du château de Fontainebleau). The 430 x 673 cm tapestry is now in the Palazzo Pitti in Florence (inv. no. 608).
