Description
Henri-Pierre DANLOUX (Paris, 1753 – 1809) Portrait of a young woman in a wedding dress Oil on oak panel, single panel Unframed 16 x 13.5 cm Provenance: Private collection, Île-de-France This delightful painting forms part of a small body of portraits produced by Danloux in the 1780s, prior to his departure for England in 1792. Small in size and delicately painted on an oak panel, it embodies all the technical characteristics typical of the works in this group. Here, the artist presents us with a luminous bust portrait of a young woman in a wedding dress. This attire suggests that our panel was most likely commissioned from the artist as a gift for the newlyweds. Henri-Pierre DANLOUX (Paris, 1753 – 1809) 16 x 13.5 cm
