‘Citizen, I have the honour of sending you the list of names of individuals sentenced to hard labour by the criminal and special courts of this department since the departure of the last convoy. As it may be that, between now and the departure of the chain whose passage through Chalon you have indicated for 27 Floréal, several defendants may be sentenced to the same punishment; in the event that no appeal is lodged, I shall have them attached to this chain and include them in the new list which I shall send to you in due course. Yours sincerely and with the deepest respect, Carnot’. 1 page, in-4 (dim: 21.2 x 25.7 cm); fine copy.
