Description
[REVOLUTION] AUDOUIN François Xavier (1765–1837), priest, later politician. A leading figure in the Jacobin Club; here serving as deputy to the Minister of War. Passport signed (dated the 22nd day of the 1st month of Year 2 of the Republic) on letterhead of the French Republic/Ministry of War (with an engraved allegory at the top and bottom) addressed to ‘Jean-Gabriel Hardy (…) commander of the Second Battalion of Indre-et-Loire, travelling to Tours to recuperate’. 1 folio page (27.7 x 44 cm); copy slightly creased, central fold reinforced (does not interfere with reading; otherwise a good copy; on the reverse, a handwritten note dated Year 3 indicating an ‘extension of service for two months’. Appraisal carried out by Pascal GUILLEBAUD. Lot from a voluntary sale.
