Description
Henri De LA TOUR D'AUVERGNE, Viscount of TURENNE (1611–1675), Marshal of France. Receipt dated 17 May 1643, countersigned on the reverse by Turenne; 1 page, oblong 8vo on vellum. Signed receipt with a few handwritten words: ‘to serve as a receipt for the sum of two thousand livres for the year 1642’. This payment was made ‘for the post of Monsieur de Turaine, which the King has seen fit to grant him’. On the front: a signed note reading ‘to serve as a receipt for the sum of two thousand livres for the year 1642 [signed] Turenne’. A fine example.
