-Regulations concerning fabrics from foreign manufacturers. Extract from the records of the hearing of the Angers Manufactories Court on Saturday 22 November 1687.
Penalties incurred for the sale of foreign or French fabrics not complying with the regulations:
‘Decree of the King’s Council of State to prevent the abuses being committed and the harm caused to trade by the sale of foreign fabrics at lower prices, as they are narrower and less tightly woven than those manufactured in France’. Proclamation addressed to the ‘Guards and Jurors, Weavers and Dyers, Master Hatters, Button-makers and Linen Weavers’ of the city of Angers.
