Antoine MALVIN de MONTAZET (1712–1788) * A one-page autograph letter, signed and dated in Lyon on 24 March 1761 in his capacity as Bishop of Lyon, addressed to Mr de Boullongne**. Dimensions: 16 x 21 cm. ‘(…) I have the honour of bringing to your attention a matter of vital importance to our hospital. It strikes me as just, and indeed you are well aware of how much this institution, so useful to the public good, deserves protection and favour (…)’. A fine copy. *Bishop of Autun, then Archbishop of Lyon. Elected to the Académie Française in 1757. **Boullongne (1690–1769), Comptroller-General of Finances (1757–1759) and Treasurer (1758–1762). Louis De VERJUS (1629–1709) * Letter signed ‘Louis Verjus de Crécy’ on vellum, dated 24 February 1699. Dimensions: 19 x 13 cm. Statement of annuities and receipts for the year 1698 amounting to 115 livres. A fine example bearing the stamp ‘Receipt for annuities from the Paris Generality’.
