Description
LOUIS XIII (1601–1643), King of France. A signed document dated 1613, drawn up in Paris on one folio-sized page of vellum. A commission granted to Sieur de Saint Rémy de Courtin in recognition of services rendered to the late King [Henry IV] and his loyalty to the Crown. This document (countersigned by Antoine de Loménie*) is signed in the young king’s own hand: ‘(…) wished to sign it in his own hand, and this shall be countersigned by me (…)’. Vellum, slightly stained and creased. Rare. A fine copy. *Antoine de Loménie, Lord of La Ville aux-Clercs (1560–1638), Secretary of State for the Navy (1613–1615) and subsequently Secretary of State for the King’s Household (1613–1638) Appraisal carried out by Pascal GUILLEBAUD.
