[EMPIRE] Louis-Alexandre BERTHIER (1753–1815); Marshal of the First Empire (1804), Prince of Wagram (1809). Letter signed ‘Alexandre’ (1p) dated 23 October 1813 in Erfurt and addressed to General Bertrand, commander of the 4th Army Corps. ‘My Lord the Count, the Emperor has just approved the allocation amongst the various army corps of the clothing, equipment, etc., held in the Erfurt depots. Count Daru will inform you of the details regarding the quantities allocated to the corps under your command. These quantities will be issued upon presentation of a voucher from the Chief of Staff of your army corps, who must then distribute the items received amongst the regiments and detached companies. You are to collect these items when you pass through Erfurt. The Prince, Vice-Constable, Major-General Alexandre. Fine example. Dimensions: 19.5 x 24.5 cm. Appraisal carried out by Pascal GUILLEBAUD.
