[BRITTANY]
PETIET, Claude-Louis (1749–1806), politician. Deputy Intendant of Brittany (1774–1789); deputy for Ille-et-Vilaine in the Council of Elders (Year IV); Minister of War (8 February 1796 – 4 July 1797). As Intendant of the Army of the Boulogne Camp, he accompanied the Emperor to Ulm and Austerlitz. Returning to France following the Peace of Pressburg, he died as a result of the campaign and was buried in the Panthéon.
Pre-printed lieutenant’s commission bearing the letterhead ‘French Republic / In the name of the Directory’ appointing Jacques Guillaume Lauron to the rank of ‘lieutenant in the 175th Company of National Veterans’; Year Five of the Republic (…) signed Petiet. 1 folio page; a small tear at the fold, otherwise a fine copy.
