Fascicule I (1935) The title page bears the handwritten words "Edition originale, exemplaire unique n°1 / Paris 1935" followed by the artist's signature. A veritable plea for the revival of Christian art, the author compiles quotations from art critics of the time to confront and reveal his artistic approach, presented as a spiritual alternative to radical modernity, even daring a comparison with Cubism and Pablo Picasso. The text is illustrated with 10 small captioned in-text vignettes, and 4 large full-page out-of-text compositions depicting different versions of the Virgin and Child in the Hodigitria style, in gold/silver and bright colours (lapis blue, deep red). Fascicule II (1936) In this fascicule, Polissadiw enunciates a mystical and radical discourse on "Truth" in art, and a virulent critique of the spirit of "Montparnasse" and the pride of the modern artist. In addition to 8 in-t. vignettes, 4 full-page paintings h.t. Christ in Majesty (The Word); The Nativity (Manger scene); The Crucifixion (Calvary); Saint Dominic (The episode of Lepanto and the Rosary). He declares that these works are "initial" and that no subsequent reproduction will be authorised by him.
