Description
A heliotrope and gold bottle case, probably from England, circa 1760, adorned with an openwork and chiselled gold mount featuring a decoration of arabesques, putti and birds, a diamond-set stopper, containing four heliotrope snuff bottles, each fitted with a matching setting and swan-shaped snuffers, interior lined with red velvet, unhallmarked, 7 x 6 x 6.4 cm We have not found any hallmarks on this lot. A GOLD-MOUNTED BLOODSTONE CASE OF FOUR BOTTLES, PROBABLY ENGLISH, CIRCA 1760 rectangular in shape with rounded corners, the bloodstone body adorned with pierced and chased gold mounts featuring scrolling arabesques, putti and birds, the lid with a diamond-set push-piece, opening to reveal four fitted bloodstone bottles, each with matching gold mounts and swan-shaped finials, the interior lined in red velvet, apparently unmarked, 7 x 6 x 6.4 cm
