Description
René DROUET (1899–1993) (Attributed to). Small table with a coiled metal frame and four-legged base. Marble top.
43 x 70 x 40 cm
A key figure in late Art Deco and the 1940s style, René Drouet created a reimagined form of luxury for the post-war upper middle classes. A pupil of Maurice Dufrène at the École Boulle, and later a collaborator at Jansen and Dim, he developed his own distinctive style. He favoured strong, even curvilinear architectural lines and contrasted wood with metal or glass.
