Description
Ⓛ Important illustrated prayer manuscript (Rawdat al-Adhkar).
Qajar Iran, dated hegira 1253 / AD 1837.
Manuscript in Arabic on paper, 575 leaves, text copied in naskh script in black ink with rubrics in red ink, framed with blue fillets, including two full-page illustrations in ink and gold highlights depicting respectively the sanctuary of Mecca and the mosque of Kufa with its associated holy places.
Bound in brown leather.

This manuscript contains the Rawdat al-Adhkār, a widely circulated compilation of Shi'ite prayers composed by Muhammad b. Muhammad Ridā Majdhūb al-Tabrīzī (d.1682). The colophon states that the text was copied in 1253 AH 1837, and - a rare occurrence - collated from the autograph copy completed in 1081 AH (1670), highlighting the care taken to faithfully transmit the text.
