Helmet with solar face
Iran, Qajar art, 19th century
Steel with gold damascened decoration (koftgari), surmounted by an anthropomorphic head in the round with stylised horns, decorated with winged figures and Persian poetic inscriptions, arranged around four solar faces in relief. Two lateral eaglet holders remain on the sides.

Provenance :
Collection of Raoul Brandon (1878-1941), politician, state architect and teacher at the Beaux-Arts, who practised notably in Egypt; by descent to his son; given to the present owner for his wedding in 1958; private collection, France.
