Pichaq with stone-set handle
Ottoman Empire, 2nd half of the 19th century
Dagger with steel blade inscribed in Arabic characters and decorated with gilded scrolls, ricasso with gilded interlacing. Gilt metal ferrule with scroll decoration, turquoise ring. Handle in green-grey nephrite jade, decorated with cabochons of rubies, emeralds and turquoise in floral motifs, top set with a turquoise. Scabbard with repoussé gilt metal mounts decorated with foliage and set with semi-precious stones.
