Although the general style is in the tradition of figurative tiles from the Qajar period, several clues point to production for the Indian market. This type of tile comes from the Kolkata Jain Temple (also known as the Parshwanath Temple), located on Badridas Street in Gouribari, in the Maniktala district. Its construction, in 1867, was financed by the philanthropist Rai Badridas Bahadoor Mookim.
