This portrait depicts Maharao Raja Shri Sir Raghubir Singh Sahib Bahadur, ruler of the princely state of Bundi in Rajasthan, who reigned from 1889 to 1927. The maharaja is depicted full-length, in a solemn attitude in keeping with the codes of official court portraiture. He is dressed in a rich princely costume and wears an imposing turban adorned with jewels, as well as multiple necklaces of pearls and hard stones, visible signs of his rank and authority.
