MOLLARD, GRENOBLE: A chiselled and gilded bronze wall clock featuring a design of hanging garlands, acanthus leaves and a female mascaron; the top crowned with a candlestick from which two bifid ribbons cascade down; white enamelled dial with Roman numerals for the hours, railway-style minute track, Arabic numerals for the minutes; signed in red on two lines ‘Mollard / A Grenoble’, gilded and openwork hands, movement countersigned ‘Mollard à Grenoble’, Louis XVI period – approx. 75 x 36 x 12 cm (wear to the gilding; damage and chips to the dial’s enamel; movement in need of servicing; sold with its balance wheel and winding square)
