Description
CARTIER - MUST COLLECTION, “Must 21” wristwatch, round case in steel and gold-plated metal, bezel engraved with Roman numerals for the hours and railway-track minute track, dial with a muted cream background, date window at 6 o’clock, sword-shaped hands, brown leather strap, butterfly folding clasp bearing the “Cartier” logo, quartz movement, serial number 901188527 – 38 x 36 mm (in working order, though no guarantee for future performance; shows minor scratches from normal wear) ABOUT THE MUST 21: The Must 21 forms part of the ‘Les Must de Cartier’ strategy launched in 1977 by Robert Hocq and Alain-Dominique Perrin: to make the brand more accessible through more affordable products — the famous Tank Must watches in vermeil, lighters, and burgundy leather goods. The ‘21’ was introduced in 1989, its name heralding the 21st century: this is the Cartier designed for a young, sporty and chic clientele. In terms of design, it features a round steel case with a screw-down caseback and a bezel engraved with Roman numerals serving as hour markers. This is the model’s stroke of genius: the dial is bare, or almost so; it is the Roman numerals on the bezel that tell the time.
