Description
MAMIYA - JAPAN, Mamiya M645 Super medium-format camera and lenses, Mamiya M645 Super medium-format SLR body, with removable film magazine (user manual included) Two lenses: - Mamiya-Sekor C 80mm f/2.8 N - Mamiya-Sekor C 150mm f/3.5 N COMMENT: Launched in the early 1980s, the Mamiya M645 Super follows in the tradition of modular medium-format SLR bodies that popularised the 6x4.5 format amongst professional photographers seeking a balance between the image quality of medium format and the ease of use of a system similar to a 35mm SLR. As the successor to the M645 1000S, it retains the latter’s mechanical robustness whilst expanding accessory compatibility — interchangeable viewfinders, multiple backs, and notably this magazine that allows the use of standard 35mm film on a format normally reserved for 120/220 film—an option much sought after by photographers wishing to harness the sharpness of Sekor lenses on a more economical format. The two lenses supplied with it — the 80mm f/2.8, the system’s ‘normal’ lens, and the 150mm f/3.5, a classic short telephoto lens for portraiture — cover most of the everyday needs of a studio or reportage photographer from the 1980s and 1990s. The ‘N’ generation of these Sekor-C lenses features an improved multi-layer coating compared to the first series, ensuring better contrast and reduced susceptibility to flare.
