Description
COTY, Set of 6 “Cordon Rouge” bottles in colourless moulded-pressed glass, with red resin stoppers and rectangular Neo-Renaissance-style labels featuring tritons and bearing the inscription “Création 1909 / Cordon Rouge / Eau de Cologne / Coty / 80° / Paris - France”, Art Deco period, 1930s–1940s – approx. H. 16 cm x W. 8 cm (the larger one) – H. approx. 10 cm x W. approx. 5 cm (the smaller one) (wear to the labels, traces of previous contents, sold as is)
COMMENT: Cordon Rouge was launched at the same time as Coty built its ‘Cité des parfums’ in Suresnes in 1909, seeking to end its dependence on external suppliers — it is therefore a fragrance from the company’s founding period. Even more remarkable: ‘Cordon Rouge’ was the fragrance worn by Christian Dior himself, which lends it an added aura in the history of French fashion and perfume.
