Preben FABRICIUS (1931–1984) & Jorgen KASTHOLM (1931–2007), BO-EX Edition – DENMARK, Rare chrome-plated steel executive desk, suspended rosewood-veneered cabinet with two black-lacquered front-opening drawers, glass top, 1960s - approx. 68 x 180 x 90 cm (minor imperfections and chips in the veneer, signs of wear inside the drawers, scratches and scuffs on the top; in good overall condition)
COMMENT: Particularly interesting for its combination of chrome-plated steel, a glass-topped desk and rosewood, this desk illustrates Fabricius’s cabinet-making skills combined with Kastholm’s expertise in metalwork. This results in a sleek and elegant design, inspired by both functionalism and modernism. The rosewood base is, moreover, a high-quality detail typical of the period. This type of exotic wood was highly prized in Scandinavian design of the 1960s, alongside teak and wenge.
