Description
Two-handed club, Apa apai, carved from wood with faceted sides and decorated with five bands of geometric motifs, Tonga or Samoa Islands, 19th century, L. 190 cm, patina and signs of wear, damage to the upper part. A comparable specimen was collected by Adrien Vincendon-Dumoulin (1811–1858) during the Astrolabe’s voyage between 1837 and 1840.
