Description
In the style of Eugène CORNU (1827–1899). An onyx planter with Oriental-style ornamentation in chiselled, cut and gilded bronze. The body, decorated with mouldings, is encircled by a frieze of stylised foliage and ovals on a red lacquered background. It is fitted with two stylised handles featuring openwork arabesque decoration and rests on four patinated and gilded bronze feet in the shape of elephant heads. Dated from the mid-19th century. H.24 L.46 D.26 cm. Signs of wear and a chip above one foot.
