Description
ODIOT, oval silver centrepiece, signed ‘Odiot à Paris’, bearing the maker’s mark and the Minerve 1st title hallmark, and numbered 9813. It rests on four legs decorated with ovals and surmounted by leaf-and-pearl-adorned clasps, the base is encircled by a broad frieze of laurel leaves and crossed ribbons, echoing the decoration of the main body, which consists of a garland of laurel leaves and fruit tied with ribbons, interrupted at the centre of each side by a coat-of-arms medallion framed by foliage and laurel wreaths, two side handles in scrolls; the lining is silver-plated, bearing the Odiot hallmark ‘Doublé au 10’; height: 18 cm, length: 42 cm, width: 27 cm; total weight excluding the lining: 5,910 g. A comparable model in terms of shape and style, produced by Odiot, was sold at the Me Boisgirard auction in Paris on 17 July 2020.
