Tapestry from the Royal Aubusson Manufactory. Archery and skipping. Part of the Amusements champêtres tapestry based on designs by Jacques Nicolas Juillard (1719 - 1790), previously attributed to Jean-Baptiste Huet.18th century, circa 1770. H. 2.05 x W. 1.23 m Materials and condition: Woven from wool and silk, the colours are still vivid; to the right of the skipping rope there is an old handmade restoration in the silks. This is a fine fragment in door format. Related tapestries: The Art Institute of Chicago has a similar tapestry, larger, reproduced in the catalogue by Koen Brosens European tapestries in the Art Institute of Chicago, 2008, N° 51, pp 304 - 306 (card by Pascal-François Bertrand).
