Marcel Notebaert (1924-1986) 'The Birth of the Carpet', a large tapestry, for the Flemish Carpet Weaving Mill, circa 1960. Large tapestry depicting the production cycle of the carpet and the weaving industry. Finished with the coats of arms of the (then) nine Belgian provinces. 'Manufactured by the NV Vlaamse Tapijtweverij Courtrai (Belgium) on its Modern Powerlooms - Product from the Flemish Carpet Industry of Belgium - Designed by the Painter M. Notebaert'. Design by Marcel Notebaert, for the Flemish Carpet Weaving Mill (Vlaamse Tapijtweverij), Kortrijk. Circa 1960.
