Description
AERONAUTICS. André DEZARROIS’s identity tag. BE André DEZARROIS (1889–1979) He was called up as a Second Lieutenant to the 132nd and then the 92nd Infantry Regiments; he joined the Air Force as an observer on 25 January 1915 with MF 33, and as a fighter pilot with N26, he scored two aerial victories, fought in the same skies as Guynemer and took part in joint patrols in the spring and summer of 1917; he was wounded in aerial combat on 21 August 1917. After the war, he served as curator of the Musée du Luxembourg, then of the Jeu de Paume and the Orangerie in the Tuileries. He wrote the foreword to René Mouchotte’s memoirs upon their publication. He was also the last pilot to have flown with Georges Guynemer on the day of his disappearance.
