Officer’s spiked helmet in full dress uniform of the 5th Garde-Regiment zu Fuss, patent leather cap, silver-plated brass fittings, large frontal eagle of the Guard with an enamelled centre bearing the motto ‘SUM CUIQUE’, flat-scale chinstraps in gilded brass with silver-plated studs, Reich and Prussian cockades, full dress hair tuft in white yak hair, satin lining (showing wear), brown leather headband, not re-pierced. The stars securing the peak are silver-coloured; they should be gold and must have been replaced. Slight dent in the helmet at the junction of the rear band and the base of the peak; small tear in the leather on the rear edge. BE
