Model 1872/94 spiked helmet for reservists of the 24th Hessian Dragoon Regiment, with a patent-leather crown, round visor and nickel-silver fittings, front plate bearing the Grand Duchy’s lion, adorned at the base with a brass reserve cross marked ‘Gott-Ehre-Vaterland’, fluted spire detachable from a cross-shaped base, rear band with two fixing studs, chinstraps with domed silver-plated scales, Reich cockades and Grand Duchy ribbons, blackened leather inner cap with its lace, neck strap stamped ‘24 D.R.’ and dated 1907, not re-punched.
