Collection of letters, official correspondence, and a posthumous Legion of Honour certificate, photographs relating to Lieutenant Maurice LERAT, who died on 24 June 1941 along with his crew when their aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire during a bombing mission on LEO 45 south of Palmyra (Syria). BE Maurice LERAT, born in 1906, enlisted as a volunteer in 1924, qualified as a pilot in 1926, served in Madagascar (1930–1932), bomber pilot with the 1/25 Group, shot down by anti-aircraft fire on 24 June 1941, awarded the Legion of Honour posthumously.
