HISTORICAL SOUVENIR. Pennant of the 9th Company of the 2nd Foreign Regiment, made of green cotton and red canvas; on one side, the 7-flame grenade, applied and openwork, and ‘9th Co.’ in rank braid; on the other side,2nd Foreign Regiment’ in openwork lettering; it is attached to a Lebel bayonet scabbard, the tip of which featured a 7-flame grenade (the flames are missing) made of cut metal. A rather rustic example of local craftsmanship, measuring 29 × 43 cm. Probably contemporary with the Rif War (1924–1926), during which the regiment was engaged against the forces of Abd-el-Krim.
