FRANCE. 1872-model dragoon non-commissioned officer’s helmet with a nickel-plated iron visor, brass scale-pattern fittings and chinstraps, the latter being of a narrower design typical of light cavalry helmets, headband featuring a grenade, sheepskin lining, plume holder, original mane, with its rare field cover in cachou calico fastened with laces (unmarked, one snag), the whole set in a handcrafted oak box with aluminium corner fittings, featuring two plume drawers, one containing a red plume in its original transport box.
