Remington Rolling Block ‘Egyptian’ rifle, in very good condition; the metal parts have a beautiful, even tobacco-coloured patina and very good rifling. No markings; calibre 43 Egyptian (11.43 x 50mm R), black. Dated to the 1870 war, from the period of the National Defence government (following the fall of the Second Empire in September 1870, the French National Defence government purchased a large number of weapons of various types from the United States to continue the war against the Germans.
