Camp Marshal’s sash, made of white silk, featuring a tassel at each end covered in silver braided canetille and bearing two woven yellow stars; the body of the sash has a long silver fringe made of rain-cord; shows signs of wear and soiling; the sash has been worn, Restoration period, France. Enclosed is a copy of *Monsieur Henri* (Henri de la Roche-Jacquelein, 1772–1794), published by Émile-Paul, by Baron de la Tousche d’Avrigny, with a letter from the author dated December 1967. During the Restoration and until 1848, the title of ‘Maréchal de camps’ replaced that of ‘général de brigade’. EXPERT: Mr Hervé MATOUS
