A fine Nimcha sabre, a superb example of high-quality craftsmanship, with a slightly curved blade measuring 750 mm, featuring two parallel fuller grooves and a flat back, a light-coloured horn hilt and a steel guard with three rounded quillons curving forwards and a guard arm, traces of gilded decoration, heliotrope rivet head; superb silver-plated scabbard entirely decorated with cloisonné enamels and cabochons of jadeite and semi-precious stone; on the scabbard, a cartouche engraved with an Islamic inscription (‘Victory belongs to Allah, Conquest is near), three loop rings with a cord forming a belt, signs of wear, oxidation, ABE-BE, LT 975 mm, North Africa/Morocco, 19th century.
