King’s Bodyguard flintlock musket, Model 1814, Noailles Company. Round, blued barrel, decorated with gold damascening depicting the thunderbolt from the Arms of France and the inscription ‘Gardes du Corps du Roi’, marked: - ‘P with a star’ – Inspector Pache – ‘B’ – Controller Bouny – ‘F with a star’ – Examiner LE FEVRE, Drum lock engraved ‘MANUFre Rle DE CHARLEVILLE’ with a star-marked ‘M’ hallmark. Copper-plated brass fittings, all screws engraved; the butt plate and trigger guard front are finished with a fleur-de-lis. The muzzle cap is stamped ‘191’ on the underside and the rear of the butt plate is marked ‘C NOAILLES’. Beautiful walnut stock, iron ramrod with a nail-head tip. With bayonet (L: 45.5 cm) A.B.E. (Barrel markings restored to colour) Barrel length: 102 cm, Overall length: 141.5 cm.
