1842-model percussion gendarmerie carbine. Round barrel with fluted recesses, stamped and dated ‘184.’. Breech block with traces of ‘Mle 1842’ markings. Flat-backed trigger guard, stamped and engraved ‘Mre Rle de Saint-Etienne’. Brass fittings uniformly stamped. Walnut stock with hallmark (restored). Iron ramrod with a truncated conical head. A.B.E. (pits). Barrel length: 75.5 cm. Overall length: 115 cm. With a bayonet in its scabbard (Lg: 52 cm).
