Lock engraved ‘Mre Imple De Tulle’ and round-bodied hammer. Iron fittings, unstamped. Unmarked walnut stock. Iron ramrod with flared tip. Barrel length: 97 cm. Overall length: 135 cm. With bayonet (47 cm) and bleached buffalo leather sling bearing a brass nameplate engraved with ‘M.LEPAUTE’ A.B.E. This rifle was issued to an officer of the Marine Guards, as indicated by the annotations in Jean Boudriot’s notebook no. 12, which describe a similar model.
