Model 1786 ship’s flintlock rifle, manufactured during the Ancien Régime. Round barrel with flat sides at the muzzle, stamped and dated 88. Flat-bodied lock engraved ‘M Rle de Tulle’ and round-bodied hammer. Brass fittings, stamped ‘C’ (stamp not visible on the butt plate). Brass hammers. Walnut stock with numerous markings, including a ‘32’ and artisan’s marks. Flared iron butt plate Barrel length: 113.5 cm. Overall length: 152 cm. Condition: Heavy wear and insect damage to the wood on the reverse of the stock; a crack at the rear of the trigger guard.
