Description
1779 model flintlock musket
Round barrel with flat sides, marked ‘85’ and hallmarked ‘D’, with a bayonet tang. Flat-bodied lock engraved ‘Mre Rle de Tulle’ and round-bodied hammer. Raised-edge firing mechanism. Unmarked brass fittings. Iron hammers. Muzzle cap secured by a screw in line with the ramrod bore.
Walnut stock with a hollow cheek piece. Iron ramrod with a truncated conical head.
Barrel length: 75 cm.
Overall length: 117.5 cm.
A.B.E. Circa 1784–1786, judging by the manner in which the mouthpiece is fitted.
