1866 model cavalry carbine, 11 mm calibre, attributed to the mounted chasseurs of the Imperial Guard. Round barrel with fluted recesses, fitted with a rear sight, dated ‘S.1870’. Breechblock marked ‘MANUFACTURE IMPERIALE ST ETIENNE’ and ‘Mle 1866’. Fittings and double-band muzzle cap in stamped brass. Rifling plate (showing numerous shots) marked ‘C’ within the imperial crown. Walnut stock with stamp bearing the serial numbers of the barrel and breech. Iron cleaning rod. Clear rifling.
