Model 1829 T Bis artillery musketon, a rare piece manufactured by Felix Escoffier. Round-bore barrel with fluted recoil groove and a sighting plate set at 650 metres, hallmarked (including the St Etienne palm hallmark). Breech block stamped ‘Mle 1829 T Bis’. Lock plate marked ‘Fx ESCOFFIER ENTREPe Mre IMPle DE St ETIENNE’ and bearing an eagle mark dated 1865; round-bodied hammer. Brass fittings, uniformly hallmarked. Walnut stock bearing the Escoffier stamp dated 1865. Iron fore-end with a strongly flared head. Barrel length: 60 cm. Overall length: 99 cm. B.E. With a Model 1842 bayonet (square pommel) with a blade marked ‘Mre Impale de Châtellerault 8bre 1862’. Sheath made of sheet iron. Length (69.5 cm).
