Year IX model infantry flintlock musket, believed to have belonged to a voltigeur. Round-bore barrel with fluted breech, hallmarked ‘MR’. Breech block engraved ‘M An 9’ (shows wear). Firing pin engraved ‘St Etienne Manuf Royale’ and round-bodied hammer. Stamped iron fittings. Walnut stock with PLD hallmark. Iron ramrod with flared tip. Barrel length: 102 cm. Overall length: 142 cm. A.B.E. With a scabbard bayonet (46.5 cm) and a sight hole. Although not prescribed by regulations for the Year IX model, this rifle nevertheless has the dimensions of a light infantry rifle.
