Model 1777–Year IX infantry musket, converted to a percussion-firing civilian weapon in Saint-Étienne for the National Guard. Round barrel with fluted muzzle, bearing the ‘SE’ palm-leaf hallmark. Breech block with rear sight. Lock plate marked ‘St Etienne Manufre Royale’; round-bodied hammer. Iron fittings uniformly hallmarked. Walnut stock with ‘G’ hallmark (Phrygian cap), fleur-de-lis stamp (crossed out) and cock stamp ‘PLD’. Iron ramrod with flared head. Barrel length: 103 cm. Overall length: 142.5 cm. A.B.E. With a scabbard bayonet (length 53 cm).
