1777 model cavalry flintlock musket with a barrel.
Round-bore barrel with fluted sides, showing traces of hallmarking, dated ‘85’. The breech block is stamped ‘Mle 1777’. Flat-bodied lock with remnants of the engraving ‘St Etienne’, date ‘83’ and hallmark. Round-bodied hammer. Brass fittings and screw-mounted muzzle cap, uniformly hallmarked. Grenadier and ramrod with a single iron ring, unhallmarked. Walnut stock with markings, dated 1785 (chip at the breech). Rear iron rib with a truncated conical head.
