IMPERIAL GUARDS, HOUSE OF THE KING Flintlock rifle of the Velites of the Imperial Guard. Round barrel with fluted breech, hallmarked (marks barely legible) and dated 1809. Breech block engraved ‘M 1777’. Flat-bodied lock stamped ‘MRE IMPLE DE VERSAILLES’ and a round-bodied hammer. Brass fittings, including the lock guard and butt plate return of this model, made of brass and stamped ‘D’ for Deschasseaux. Stock panels of the model. Walnut stock hallmarked ‘JD’ by Deschasseaux at the breech. With stamp. Iron stock ramrod, flared at the tip. Barrel: 105 cm Length: 144 cm. A.B.E. With bayonet: 47.3 cm.
