Chassepot infantry rifle, Model 1866, 11 mm calibre. Round barrel with fluted breech, fitted with a rear sight, dated S 1873. Breechblock marked ‘MANUFACTURE D’ARMES ST ETIENNE Mle 1866’. Iron fittings. Walnut stock with a stamp dated September 1873. Iron ramrod. With its original bayonet, complete with an 1873 blade from St Etienne. Clear rifling. B.E. Stock, bolt, receiver, barrel, cleaning rod, tenon, cross-guard and bayonet scabbard all bear the same serial number ‘Q17612’. Barrel: 79 cm. Overall length: 131 cm.
