Model 1817 military school pupils’ flintlock rifle, converted to percussion. Round barrel with fluted breech, dated 1818. Unmarked breech block. Lock stamped ‘Mre Rle de VERSAILLES’ and round-bodied hammer. Brass fittings uniformly stamped ‘D’. Walnut stock (with a small crack). Iron cleaning rod. Barrel length: 100 cm. Overall length: 136 cm. With bayonet: 36.3 cm. A.B.E. Very few examples (approximately 400) were produced by the Manufacture de Versailles in 1817 and 1818.
